Weather in July

In the Northern Territory the days are generally cool, approximately 19 degrees and clear in winter, with nights known to fall below freezing with the possibility of frosts 50% of the time.

At Uluru/Ayers Rock it is a surprisingly cold season when one looks at the region objectively as a desert, frost and dew can occur in the early mornings while the evenings can become extremely frigid and even reach the zero-degree threshold. It is thus important to prepare appropriately in terms of clothing and other cold-weather necessities. Daily maximum averages are usually around 20 degrees, however the nights drop to a near-freezing average of around 4 degrees celsius.

Is it safe in Alice Springs?

Common sense is always necessary, when visiting any destination. Avoid places like Gap Road and Todd Mall after 10pm at night. Don’t walk back to your accommodation at night, catch a taxi or Uber.
